Earnings Call: Q3 2023

Hi, everyone. To all our shareholders, analysts, investors, industry partners, and most importantly, of course, all our customers. It's good to be back here. I'm here today again to share with you and reflect about some of our progress in the past nine months since we have merged, and also within the first year of our operation. Proud to where we are today, and we have accomplished quite a fair bit since we merged on the 1st of December 2020. Before we talk about the result, I would like just to share one major milestone that we have accomplished on the 18th of October last month.

It was a major milestone for us when we launched our new corporate brand, CelcomDigi, with an aspiration for this brand to lead in the innovation and digitization of not only us as a company, not only in the industry, but bring new services to our customers, new offers to our customers, but also to inspire the nation with this new brand. Three features of the brand. One is about dynamism, about how we as a company need to be dynamic and continuously transform as the industry, as technology changes. Two, it will reflect our passion for our customers. As a company that serve more than 20 million Malaysian customers, we'll continue to be the central part of how we work. And third, is our focus on excellence. We're gonna build this brand to be a brand that inspire all Malaysians.

Inspire for them to create a new world that they've seen, this new era of digital everything. Now, let's talk a bit about our results. I'm pleased to report that we had a solid third quarter for 2023. Performance driven by a very strong commercial execution. We managed to grow the top line by about 1% year-on-year, reflecting our robust on ground execution with fresh and very attractive 5G offerings under the banner of 5G For All, and also our converged solutions to all our postpaid customers. We managed to control our costs, reduce our OpEx.

Our EBITDA improved by 7.2%, and to yield one of the highest EBITDA margin, quarterly EBITDA margin of 50.5% in the third quarter, which I will may be able to say that it's probably an industry-leading margin, underscoring some of the efforts that we do in our cost optimization program. Over the past nine months as well, we have added more than 500,000 new subscribers. So welcome to all our new subscribers. Now we are serving more than 20.6 million customers. We are very pleased that to see the growth coming from all segments, from postpaid, prepaid, as well as our home fiber offering. As a result, I'm happy to note that the steady momentum of the past three quarters, that we are now staying on track against our 2023 guidance that we had given earlier.

A little bit on our network integration, which is going extremely well. As you know, we have commenced a full-scale organization and integration of our two networks since April 2023. As of the last October, we have modernized over 4,400 sites, and we have also successfully phased out over 1,600 sites that are duplicated between the two networks. In the past quarter, we've also been very active in bringing 5G into the center of our go-to-market activity. We held a series of programs to help educate the market, especially the enterprise and small and medium enterprises. With the CelcomDigi MY 5G Series, we have CEO roundtable programs that was attended by more than 60 CEOs across 20 industries.

On the consumer side, we continue to bring 5G to everyone under the banner of 5G For All, and continue to bring flexible and attractive packages for our customers to adopt. I want to thank our shareholders, our customers, our regulators, for the continuous support and trust that you have given us at CelcomDigi. Of course, I would thank all the employees, all the 4,700 citizens, that every day continue to be very, very dedicated to make this company a brand-new company, and to make a difference, and create a new brand, and to empower Malaysians in this new digital everything era.
