About AMI Labs

AMI Labs, formally Advanced Machine Intelligence Labs, is an artificial intelligence research company building "world models." This is a class of AI systems meant to understand the physical world from sensor data, keep persistent memory and reason and plan rather than simply predict the next word the way large language models do. The lab frames this as a different path to machine intelligence and emphasizes reliability and safety for uses such as industrial automation, robotics, wearable devices and healthcare. AMI runs as a long-horizon research organization, so it is pre-product and does not yet earn revenue. It plans to eventually make money by licensing its systems to enterprises in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive and biomedical industries. It was founded in 2025 by Turing Award winner Yann LeCun, the former chief AI scientist at Meta, with Alexandre LeBrun, and is headquartered in Paris with additional offices in New York, Montreal and Singapore.
