About Astranis
Astranis is a satellite company that builds and operates small geostationary communications satellites. Its MicroGEO spacecraft weigh around 400 kilograms, roughly 20 times less than a traditional GEO satellite, and carry a software-defined radio that can be reprogrammed in orbit. The company makes money by selling dedicated satellite capacity as a service under long-term leases to telecom operators and governments, with customers in Taiwan, Oman, Thailand, Mexico and the Philippines. It is also a prime contractor for US Space Force programs including Protected Tactical SATCOM-Global and Resilient GPS.
