About BrainChild Bio
BrainChild Bio is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing CAR T cell therapies for tumors of the central nervous system, with a kids-first focus on pediatric brain cancers and plans to expand into adult tumors. Its lead candidate, BCB-276, is an autologous CAR T cell therapy that targets the B7-H3 protein and is delivered directly into the cerebrospinal fluid to reach brain tumors. BCB-276 is being tested in ILLUMINATE, a pivotal Phase 2 registrational trial for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a rare and fatal childhood brainstem cancer. It has also received FDA Fast Track and Breakthrough Therapy designations. The company is also advancing BCB-214, a triple-targeting CAR T candidate for glioblastoma. As a clinical-stage company it has no approved products and generates no product revenue, funding its research through equity investment and grants rather than sales. BrainChild Bio was spun out of Seattle Children's in 2023 by Michael Jensen, the scientific founder of Juno Therapeutics and Umoja Biopharma, and is led by CEO Steven Brugger, who previously built vaccine maker Affinivax to a $3.3 billion acquisition by GSK.
