About Capitolis
Capitolis is a financial technology company that helps banks and institutional investors manage capital, funding and balance sheet constraints. Its Portfolio Optimization business runs compression, novation and initial margin optimization cycles across FX, rates and credit derivatives. These cycles offset redundant positions between banks so they hold less regulatory capital and post less margin. Its Capital Marketplace connects global banks that originate assets with institutional investors that want to share in that exposure, which frees up capital on the banks' balance sheets. Capitolis makes money from fees paid by the banks, buyside firms and other financial institutions that use its platform. The company was founded by Gil Mandelzis, who previously founded post-trade firm Traiana, and former Thomson Reuters CEO Tom Glocer. In September 2026 it agreed to acquire securities lending agent eSecLending for $200 million in cash, a deal still awaiting regulatory approval as of October 2026.
