About CloudKitchens
CloudKitchens is a ghost kitchen company that converts underused urban real estate into shared facilities filled with delivery-only commercial kitchens. Restaurants and food brands rent the fully equipped kitchens to cook for delivery and takeout without the cost of a traditional storefront. The company makes money by charging rent for kitchen space and by selling software through its Otter platform, which pulls orders from apps like Uber Eats and DoorDash into one system. CloudKitchens is run by Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick. Its parent company City Storage Systems was renamed Atoms in March 2026 as the group expands into robotics for the food, mining and transport industries.
