About David

David is a high-protein food brand best known for a snack bar that delivers 28 grams of protein in 150 calories with no sugar, one of the highest protein-to-calorie ratios on the market. Its range has grown beyond the original bar into high-protein frozen desserts and ready-to-drink shakes, and its formulations rely on esterified propoxylated glycerol (EPG), a low-calorie fat substitute the company controls after buying its sole maker, Epogee, in 2025. David makes money by selling these products online direct-to-consumer and through more than 35,000 retail locations including Walmart, Target and Costco. The brand is the flagship of parent company Medici Brands, a house of brands that also owns the low-sugar candy line HallPass and plans a third brand called Rowdy. David was founded in 2024 by Peter Rahal and Zach Ranen. Rahal earlier co-founded the protein-bar maker RXBAR and sold it to Kellogg for $600 million.
