Descript is an AI-powered video and podcast editor that lets people edit audio and video by editing a text transcript. It transcribes recordings automatically and includes screen recording, AI voice cloning and an AI co-editor called Underlord that can trim filler words, design scenes and generate social clips. Descript makes money by selling monthly and annual subscriptions to creators, podcasters and business teams. The company was founded by Andrew Mason, who previously founded Groupon.
