About Fab2
Fab2, formerly known as Atomic Semi, is a semiconductor company that designs and builds the tools, components and software needed to make chips, then mass-produces small, software-defined fabrication plants. The company calls its approach a "fab fab," a factory that turns out the compact fabs and the machines inside them, from pumps and valves to lithography tools, instead of buying that equipment off the shelf. It also builds Studio, a browser-based collaborative chip-design tool meant to move as fast as its fabs. Fab2 aims to make money by manufacturing chips in its own fabs and by producing the fabs and tooling themselves. It was co-founded in 2022 by Sam Zeloof, who became known for fabricating chips in his family garage as a teenager, and Jim Keller, a veteran chip architect behind AMD's Zen architecture, Apple's early mobile processors and Tesla's Autopilot chip who now also leads AI chipmaker Tenstorrent.
