About Island
Island is an enterprise browser company that builds a Chromium-based browser designed for business use, with security, IT controls and data protection built directly into the tool employees use every day. The browser lets organizations govern web activity at the source, applying conditional access, data-loss prevention and web threat defense so they can replace layers of legacy security software, cut VDI costs and safely support contractors and BYOD. Island sells mainly to large regulated enterprises in banking, healthcare, government and retail, and counts PayPal, Amazon and Pfizer among its customers. It makes money through per-seat enterprise subscriptions to the browser and its wider platform, which now reaches beyond the browser into a broader control layer for governing both employees and AI agents across devices, applications and networks. Island was founded in 2020 by Mike Fey, a former president of Symantec, and Dan Amiga, whose previous startup Fireglass was acquired by Symantec.
