About Karat
Karat is a technical interviewing company that runs live interviews for software engineering candidates on behalf of employers. Its Interview Engineers use a shared coding environment and a standardized rubric so companies can compare candidates across teams and geographies. Karat also sells skills assessments and a contractor-evaluation product so enterprises can apply the same bar to vendors. The company makes money by charging per interview and for those assessment products. It was founded in 2014 by Mohit Bhende, a former Microsoft Xbox executive, and Jeffrey Spector, formerly chief of staff to Melinda French Gates.
