About Newsela
Newsela is an education technology company that provides instructional content, assessment and student data tools for K-12 schools. Its core platform takes real-world texts such as news articles and primary sources and rewrites each one at five reading levels, paired with standards-aligned quizzes and activities for English language arts, social studies and science. Newsela makes money by selling annual subscriptions to school districts for its subject products and add-ons. The product suite also includes the Formative assessment platform, the Schoolytics student data platform, the Generation Genius science and math video library and the EveryDay Labs attendance platform, all acquired between 2023 and 2026, plus Luna, an AI teaching assistant launched in 2025.
