About Palmetto
Palmetto is a consumer energy platform that helps homeowners install and pay for rooftop solar, home batteries, heat pumps and backup generators. It does not run its own installation crews. Instead it operates a digital marketplace that matches households with vetted local contractors, while its software handles design, permitting, financing, monitoring and long-term service. Palmetto makes money mainly through LightReach, its third-party ownership arm, which owns the equipment and charges customers a fixed monthly payment under solar leases and power purchase agreements. Those systems are funded with institutional capital, and the federal investment tax credits they generate are sold on to corporate buyers. The company also licenses software and APIs to installers and other clean energy businesses.
