About Precision Neuroscience
Precision Neuroscience is a brain-computer interface company that develops a minimally invasive brain implant for people with severe paralysis. Its Layer 7 Cortical Interface is a thin film with 1,024 electrodes that conforms to the surface of the brain without penetrating tissue. It is inserted through a slit less than a millimeter wide and can be safely removed. The implant records neural signals that let users operate computers and smartphones with their thoughts. The company plans to make money by commercializing its implant system for clinical uses such as intraoperative brain mapping, and the Layer 7 array received FDA clearance in 2025 for implantations of up to 30 days. Precision was co-founded by Benjamin Rapoport, a neurosurgeon who was part of the founding team of Neuralink.
