About Simile
Simile is an artificial intelligence company that builds foundation models to simulate human behavior. Its platform creates "agentic twins," AI stand-ins for real people that companies can survey by the millions to predict how customers, patients, employees or citizens will respond to a decision before it reaches the real world. Enterprises such as CVS Health, Wealthfront, Deloitte and Gallup use it to test product ideas, rehearse earnings calls and gauge brand perception faster and more cheaply than traditional market research. Simile makes money by selling access to its simulation platform, charging in part based on the number of agents it models for each customer. The company was spun out of Stanford and grew out of a 2023 research project on generative agents by chief executive Joon Sung Park. Its co-founders include Percy Liang, a researcher known for helping coin the term "foundation model."
