About Stand Insurance
Stand is a home insurance company that covers houses in areas exposed to wildfires and hurricanes. Its Stand World Model builds a physics-based digital twin of each property and simulates how the structure would hold up in a fire or windstorm, taking into account its materials, nearby trees and local weather. Stand uses these simulations to show homeowners which changes, such as removing a specific tree or replacing windows, would make the home safer. It also connects owners with contractors and confirms the completed work. Stand makes money from premiums on homeowners policies, which it sells through insurance brokers and issues through Concert Specialty Insurance Company in California and Stand Insurance Exchange in Florida. Homes that complete the recommended upgrades can get discounts of up to 70%. The company was co-founded by former Metromile CEO Dan Preston together with Jason Mueller, HotelTonight co-founder Sam Shank and WePay founder Bill Clerico.
