About xLight
xLight is a semiconductor equipment company that builds particle accelerator driven free electron lasers to generate extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light for chipmaking. Its lasers are designed to replace the laser produced plasma light sources inside today's EUV lithography machines, delivering several times more power at a much lower cost per wafer. The company plans to make money by commercializing these light sources for semiconductor fabs and national security applications. It is building its first full-scale prototype at the Albany NanoTech Complex in New York with backing from a $150 million CHIPS Act award. Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger serves as executive chairman.
