Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I confirm that this, the 2021 annual general meeting of Seeing Machines Limited is being recorded and will be available on the company website after this meeting. I'm advised that a quorum is present, and I therefore declare the AGM officially open. My name is Kate Hill, and as Chair of Seeing Machines, it is my pleasure to welcome you here today. We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we are meeting in Australia, and recognize their continuing connection to land, waters, and culture. We pay our respects to their elders, past, present, and emerging. I would like to welcome my fellow directors who are joining us by video conference, and also present today are members of the executive leadership team and our auditors from EY. As you'll see from the agenda, I will give a short address.
Following this, the annual report and the company's financial statements will be presented to the meeting. We will then proceed through the formal items of business before bringing the meeting to a close. It's been another unusual year for Seeing Machines, but it has been a good year. 2021, the year that marks the company's 21st birthday, has seen significant progress for our business and also seen driver monitoring system technology or DMS technology reinforced as integral to improving safety across the automotive industry as well as in commercial transport. We are also seeing good progress across aviation, with key players recognizing the value of eye-tracking technology for training efficiencies as well as improving safety across this already very safety-conscious industry, both in the cockpit and also for air traffic control. The regulatory backdrop has supported this growing momentum.
The requirement for DMS in Europe is fast approaching as legislation and regulations come into force in 2024. The Euro NCAP protocols, recently released, align closely with the Seeing Machines technology, which will also require new cars to include the technology from as soon as 2023. We have seen this extend to the U.S., and look forward to understanding those timelines in more detail as they are developed. The great news is that Seeing Machines has been closely aligned with these trends, and now stands ready to support our customers and partners as they work hard to meet the new requirements. Our technology strategy has been purposefully structured to allow flexibility and support a range of designs and integration options. We are seeing that foresight start to pay off as demand increases significantly with a growing spectrum of requirements.
With 120,000 individual cars and over 31,700 trucks on roads today featuring our life-saving DMS, we are achieving our purpose, the reason we exist. That is to get everyone home safely. Turning now to our operations, the company's response to the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years has resulted in a leaner organization with cost savings locked in and a high proportion of our spending now focused on engineering effort, driving pure innovation as well as designing the features that our customers demand. Through a combination of growth and cost containment, the aftermarket business is now profitable in its own right and able to contribute towards our investment into the OEM business, which we know has a longer-term payoff. Coupled with the recent capital raise, we are well funded to respond to the current round of RFQs in OEM.
We conclude the financial year substantially further along our journey than we were 12 months ago. This is a testament to the leadership of our CEO, Paul McGlone, and his executive team, as well as the hard work and dedication delivered by all of our employees across the globe in what has been another difficult year, dominated by lockdowns and hampered by the inability to meet face-to-face. In closing, I'll say the momentum for DMS technology and the company's success to date has grown our profile globally. I'm delighted with the many new customers, partners, and shareholders that we have welcomed to Seeing Machines over the past year, and we look forward to that momentum continuing. We are driven to save lives. We're focused on our customers and ultimately returning value to our shareholders.
Turning to some formalities for today's meeting, I would like to explain the meeting and voting procedures we are using. As stated in the notice of meeting, the formal business of today's meeting will be conducted online. The notice of meeting has details of how to vote at the meeting for all Australian registered shareholders. Australian shareholders who have not already voted can vote online by visiting the webpage provided in the one-page notice and access under the details regarding voting. I should add that all of our other shareholders have already had the opportunity to vote by proxy. All resolutions will be decided via electronic poll, with each member entitled to vote on each of the resolutions, subject of course to any voting exclusions. Those eligible to vote may vote at any time during these proceedings until I declare the voting closed.
I will close the voting after all resolutions have been put to the meeting. Please note that only shareholders, proxy holders or shareholder representatives may vote. I will now direct that the voting be opened, and I will close the voting a few minutes after the close of the meeting, and I will advise you when the voting is about to close. Shareholders were requested in the notice of meeting to send questions to the company head secretary ahead of the meeting, and no questions were received. I think this is possibly because we had a briefing when we released our results less than a month ago. Today, however, we are enabling a limited number of questions to be asked via the chat function in Zoom.
We will only respond to questions relevant to the formal business of the meeting, and we'll do our best to capture all questions asked. I'll now move to the formal business before today's meeting. I'm informed that the notice of meeting dated the 24th of November, 2021 , was sent to all registered shareholders within the requisite time period. Both the notice of meeting and the annual report are available for shareholders to download in accordance with the instructions given for attendance of the meeting. I'll now table the notice of meeting and take it as read. The notice sets out the agenda and the items to be considered at this meeting. I will put each resolution to the meeting in turn, and will ask the Company Secretary to inform me whether there are any questions specific to that resolution on the online chat.
In terms of proxy votes, please note that I'll be voting all undirected proxies in favor of the resolutions. I'll disclose the proxy votes on the screen before the vote on each resolution. The closing time for receipt of proxies was 5:00 P.M. Australian Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, the 14th of December 2021, and the totals reflect the number of votes received at that time. I have been advised that all proxies received for the meeting have been checked, and I therefore declare them valid for voting. The first item of business is to receive the annual financial report, the director's report and auditor's report for the company for the year ended June 30, 2021. These reports are available on our website. The Corporations Act requires these reports to be laid before the annual general meeting.
There is, however, no requirement for shareholders to vote on, approve or adopt these reports. Susan, can I ask if there are any questions on the financial reports?
We haven't received any further questions.
Thank you. With the reports received, I'll move to the two resolutions before the meeting today. As the first resolution relates to my standing for re-election to the Board, I will hand over the chair to my fellow director, John Murray, who chairs the company's Risk, Audit & Finance Committee, to speak to resolution one. Thank you, John.
Thank you, Kate. The first item of formal business is the re-election of Kate Hill as a director, as required by the company's constitution. I refer shareholders to the notice of meeting for the experience and details of the board's current chair, Kate Hill, who is seeking re-election by shareholders at this meeting. As noted in the notice of meeting, the board unanimously supports the re-election of Ms. Hill, with Ms. Hill abstaining. Resolution 1 is on the screen, and I now put the resolution to the meeting that Ms. Catherine Kate Hill, who retires in accordance with rule 6.4A of the Constitution and being eligible, offers herself for election, be re-elected as a director of the company. Proxies received on this resolution are shown on the screen. Susan, are there any questions on this resolution?
There are no questions.
I now hand the chair back to Kate.
Thank you, John. The next item of business is to consider the re-election of John Murray as a director, as required by the company's constitution. I refer shareholders to the notice of meeting for the professional profile and experience of John Murray, who is seeking re-election by shareholders at this meeting. As noted in the notice of meeting, the board unanimously supports the re-election of Mr. Murray, with Mr. Murray abstaining. Resolution 2 is on the screen, and I now put the resolution to the meeting that Mr. John Murray, who retires in accordance with rule 6.4A of the Constitution and being eligible, offers himself for election, be re-elected as a director of the company. Susan, are there any questions on this resolution?
There are no questions.
Thank you, Susan. A poll will now be conducted on both the resolutions put to the meeting. May I ask that shareholders complete their voting online and submit their votes? The results of the poll will be announced on our website as soon as they are available. In closing, to all of our shareholders who have joined this online meeting, that concludes the formal business of the meeting. We appreciate your attendance today and your ongoing support of our company and our business. Before closing the meeting, I would also like to thank all staff at Seeing Machines for their enormous contribution over what has been an unusual and challenging past year. I'll now direct that the poll be closed for voting. Thank you. I now declare the meeting closed. Thank you again for your attendance.
