About IRNEX
US Small Cap Core ETF 529 Portfolio Class I is an investment portfolio structured as part of a 529 college savings plan, primarily designed to help investors save for future education expenses. The portfolio’s core function is to provide exposure to the U.S. small-cap equity market by seeking to track the performance of the S&P SmallCap 600 Index. To achieve this, the portfolio invests substantially all of its assets in the iShares Core S&P Small-Cap ETF, offering broad diversification across a wide range of industries represented within the index. The S&P SmallCap 600 Index includes companies with market capitalizations that, as of recent data, typically range from approximately $203 million to $12.4 billion, covering about 3% of the total U.S. equity market. The portfolio encompasses sectors such as consumer discretionary, financials, and industrials, among others, reflecting the diverse nature of small-cap companies in the United States. Managed with a passive investment strategy, the portfolio aims to mirror index returns rather than outperform them, making it a key component for investors seeking broad-based, cost-efficient access to U.S. small-cap equities within a 529 plan framework.
