It invests through other funds in fixed income securities. The fund seeks to benchmark the performance of its portfolio against the composite index comprising of 10% of FTSE Canada Short Term Overall Bond Index, 4% of FTSE Canada Floating Rate Note Index, 29% of FTSE Canada Universe Bond Index, 7% of FTSE World Government Bond Index (Hedged CAD), 12% of FTSE Canada All Corporate Bond Index, 6.775% of Bank of America Merrill Lynch BB-B U.S. Cash Pay High Yield Index (Hedged CAD), 7.125% of Credit Suisse Leveraged Loan Index (USD), 1.7% Bloomberg U.S. Securitized Index (USD), 1.7% of Markit iBoxx Broad U.S. Non-Agency RMBS Index (USD), 7.7% of JP Morgan Corporate Emerging Markets Bond Index Broad Diversified Core, 6% of JP Morgan Government Bond Index – Emerging Markets Global Core Total Return Index, and 7% of Deutsche Bank Currency Returns Index (USD).
