Ladies and gentlemen, of course, as a loyal user of Grab, I am very excited to see GrabX 2026. Right, Mr. Anthony? Ooh, very excited. Especially the second edition of GrabX that held in Jakarta, Indonesia today. Indonesia is, of course, one of the eight Southeast Asia countries that Grab operates in, and also one of the key engines providing talents to Grab workforce and driving much of Grab regional innovations. Especially for today's event, we will not just hear the latest generation of product from Grab, as we'll visit a visual and interactive demonstration zone where you will get to see and experience our tech in actions. We are here gathered to witness the next stage in Grab's journey, empowering millions of consumers, drivers, and also merchants in the region and beyond.
Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, let's go into the next part of today's program. That is the Grab Group CEO and Co-founder, Anthony Tan. Before that, a video on one of Grab's driver partners. Please enjoy.
[Presentation]
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Anthony Tan.
Good morning, everyone, and a very warm welcome to GrabX. [Non-English content]. Thank you so much for coming. It is such an honor to bring our second edition of GrabX to Jakarta. Whether you're here in person, as we are graced by the honorable Bapak and the ministers, or joining us online virtually around the world, thank you for making the time. At GrabX last year, I introduced you to MAI, our Merchant AI Assistant. You just met her brother just now, our Driver AI Assistant. I like to call it Coach for short, because that's what it is. Coach is more than a tool. Coach is a smart companion for our drivers.
As you saw in the video, Coach guides them to better earnings and handles tasks for them so they can keep their focus on the road. Just like MAI, our Merchant AI Assistant, Coach was born out of our AI-First with Heart philosophy, where we take the most sophisticated technology and put it into the hands of real people with real problems, so we can solve these real issues in society. We worked with OpenAI on Coach, and today, over 500,000 drivers have that partner in their pocket. We are going to roll this out to millions more. I opened GrabX with Driver AI Assistant Coach because we hold a deep conviction at Grab that the benefits of AI shouldn't be limited to only those who know how to use it, and it shouldn't be limited to only those who can afford it.
It's a conviction that is growing stronger and more urgent because we are living in a world where humans who don't embrace AI will very likely be displaced. This is not a dystopian future, folks. It is a reality we must confront today. If that feels scary to you, because it's scary even to me, then imagine for the chicken porridge seller in Semarang, or imagine a 58-year-old single mother driving in Hanoi. Imagine the everyday folks who are navigating the complexity of daily life in Southeast Asia. In our race to an AI-powered future, will they be left behind? At Grab, we believe that they shouldn't be.
We believe that everyone, regardless of their technical skill, should have the opportunity to jump on this AI wave and not be swept by it, and we want to help as many people as we can. This is the path we are choosing, and this is how we're doing it. For years, we've been building an intelligence layer. An intelligence layer that sits beneath every feature and innovation in our app. It is AI infrastructure fueled by real-world, real-time signals. It allows us to sense, understand, predict, and respond to the world around us in ways that nobody else can. It is what allows us to watch over every ride as it happens. It watches the route, the speed, the stops, so we can detect and prevent safety incidents before they even happen.
It lets us extend safe and responsible credit lines to folks who previously had no other options but to go to loan sharks. It enables us to batch orders based on merchant conditions, weather conditions, road conditions, and more, so that our partners can earn more while still making sure food arrives hot for our customers. We've taken this intelligence layer and put it into the hands of our partners in ways that doesn't even feel like AI for them. That's what you're seeing in solutions like MAI merchant AI solution and Coach. Less artificial intelligence, more smart companion. Importantly, we give them these tools for free. We bear all the AI token costs because we know great AI isn't cheap. But it shouldn't be a luxury for only those who can afford it. We aren't stopping at a digital world.
The next step for us is to take this intelligence layer and put it into physical hardware, such as autonomous vehicles, CCTV cameras, and very soon, robots. Everyone, put up your hands and say hi to Carri. For years, our intelligence has lived behind the screen. Our partners live in a physical world where drivers can lose their way looking for a restaurant in a huge mall like the ones in Jakarta. Merchants have to deal with the chaos of a busy lunch rush.
We are changing that today. We're changing that by giving our software hands and eyes. Whether it's a robot that works together with our driver partners or our CCTV cameras that monitors the hygiene of how food is prepared, we are moving into hardware to improve the messy physical parts of the job that software alone cannot fix w ith robots that can interact with and manipulate the environment.
We are taking the intelligence layer out of the clouds and onto the street, folks. By embodying our intelligence layer, we open up new avenues for helping our partners solve problems in completely novel ways through physical automation. Our friend Carri here isn't a replacement for our drivers. We want it to be a superhuman extension to them. Our drivers lose around 10% of their earning time looking for a restaurant in a big mall or waiting for their customers to come downstairs from large office towers. If this little fella can handle that wait by finding the restaurant and then passing the order to the driver, it allows our drivers to move to the next job much more quickly.
This is the next step of how we will help our partners not just survive the shifts in this world, but to thrive in it. Say bye to Carri. While I've focused on how the Grab Intelligence Layer helps our partners, make no mistake, this is what's powering the shift in how we want to serve all of you as well. For 14 years, you've known Grab as the app that gets you from A to B or that brings you that hot meal to satisfy your craving to your doorstep. Today, the Grab app gets an upgrade. We're moving beyond facilitating transactions and adding new product features that make us your intelligent everyday guide. I'm excited for you to hear from my colleague Philipp and his team later about the newest features we're introducing that will achieve this for you.
They are features that are built upon Grab's Intelligence Layer, that draws from real-world understanding and prediction models to create new ways to make everyday life smarter and more seamless for you. You'll see this in solutions like Group Rides, how we've taken an age-old behavior of sharing a ride with all your friends, and we made this whole experience a lot smarter. You'll also hear about solutions like GrabMaps for Consumers, which is like MAI and Coach. It's about putting our Intelligence Layer in your hands to help you navigate the physical world better. I'm going to stop here before I steal the thunder from my friend Philipp, but let me wrap with this. At GrabX last year, I introduced to you our promise to be AI-First with Heart. That promise is more important today than ever before, and I want to reaffirm what exactly that commitment is.
It is a promise that we will relentlessly pursue the best technology in the world to create solutions that makes the lives of our users and our partners so much better, especially those who are underserved. A promise to be aggressive in innovation, but inclusive in impact. A promise that we'll solve for the invisible majority because that's where the biggest breakthroughs happen. In this process, as we work with the best AI labs from the East to the West, we hope to contribute back to make their foundational models like GPT, Claude, Gemini, Kimi, work better for Southeast Asia as a whole. Folks, every major technological shift in history has created winners and losers. We are in the AI revolution today, and that ending hasn't been written yet.
Instead of allowing the gap to widen between the tech savvy and the underserved, we are choosing to use our intelligence layer to bridge it, to guide people to get from where they are to where they want to be, from who they are to who they want to become. At the end of the day, folks, our technology is only as powerful as the communities we serve. Thank you all for your trust, for your frank feedback, for your partnership to make AI work for everyone in Southeast Asia and soon Taiwan. Let's not just watch the world shift. Let's shift it together and for the better. Thank you. [Non-English content] .
Thank you, Anthony, for the inspiring and also exciting speech. Oh my God, I cannot wait for that to kick off in Indonesia. Wow. Certainly, you're not just making the execution of daily tasks smoother, but beyond. Grab is really supporting us in getting a step closer to the lives we aspire with your tech. Ladies and gents, of course, we are very excited for your next sessions we all have been waiting for. All right, ladies and gentlemen, now it is my honor to invite the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, to share his short remarks. Minister, the floor is yours.
Good morning. [Non-English content] . Peace and shalom. [Non-English content] . [Non-English content] . Greeting of goodness. Your Excellency, Minister Maman Abdurrahman, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise of Republic of Indonesia. Honorable Anthony Tan, Co-founder and CEO, Grab Holdings. Ibu Neneng Goenadi, CEO of Grab Indonesia. Leadership and staff of Grab Holdings and Grab Indonesia. Esteemed industry partners, business leaders from many friendly countries and media colleagues. Let us offer our praise and thanks to Almighty God through His mercy and grace that we are able to host the GrabX 2026.
Amid the global uncertainty and geopolitical tension and global economic volatility, the Indonesian economy has demonstrated the remarkable resilience. The fourth quarter Indonesian economy grew by 5.4%, which is, I think, one of the fastest-growing among the G20 countries. We are number two, just behind India. Indonesian household consumption was primary driver of the economic growth with growth rate of even higher than economic growth, almost 5%, and accounted to the largest shares of the national gross domestic product, 53.63%.
I think this is as a result of the 280 million people in Indonesia, so that 40% of Grab is operated from Indonesia. That's why we thank you that Grab chose Indonesia to host this GrabX, but actually it's necessary, and it has to be in Indonesia. The government view s digitalization and AI as new engine of growth. Indonesia possesses a high promising digital economy. The e-commerce with the gross merchandise value almost $100 billion, and according to the 2025 Global Innovation Index, Indonesia ranked 55th, and one indicator of innovation can be seen in the state of startup by Indonesia.
In 2025, we have 3,200 startups as well as seven global-scale unicorns operating in the food and beverage business, fintech, e-commerce, and transportation sectors. The economy of Southeast Asia has also observed an increase in revenue from various AI-based activities and applications in Indonesia. This further solidifies the Indonesian position as one of the most promising AI markets in Asia. While offering significant opportunities, the development of adoption technology also drives shifts in the labor market needs. The World Economic Forum reports that 22% of job roles will change in the coming years, and the key is ensuring the availability of adaptable digital talent and capabilities of innovation. The government is preparing the talent development through a collaboration with the U.K. company, so-called Arm, that Indonesia is developing this year 15,000 talents in order to be ready for AI.
At the regional level, Indonesia initiated ASEAN Digital Economic Framework during the Indonesian leadership, and I think in 2026, we hope that during Philippine leadership, this will be signed. If we can sign this, then the global economic for digital opportunity is increasing from $1 trillion to $2 trillion in 2030. This is another potential growth for the Grab in the next five years. As Anthony Tan, the CEO, say that the partner for Grab is the merchant, the small and medium enterprise. Here the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise is your natural partner in Indonesia, and the partnership will be level playing field if the welfare of Grab can be transmitted to the welfare of the small and medium enterprise.
That the GrabX AI application not only exclusively being used for the Grab driver and partners, but also the merchant partners so that they can improve their efficiency, and we make them the same level playing field with modern retailer next to their shop. The presence of Grab, we should use the AI to leverage their buying power for their vendors of small and medium enterprise. I think the instant data-driven and also assist ranging from sales trend to the customer summary so that the small and medium enterprise will know what kind of merchandise they should develop, or they should procure. Beyond the technology itself, digital ecosystem hosted by Grab serves as a vital engine for national economic growth, and the ecosystem consistently creates new and inclusive job opportunities, demonstrating that technology and workforce empowerment will form the powerful partnership.
Beyond AI, there are data centers that should be available locally because the need for 40% of your servers to be hosted in the host countries. Everything will be available in a very fast manner. If you see around the land price, the electricity, the water, you can compare to which country you operate, Indonesia is the most competitive. That I can guarantee.
Let us use this momentum to take concrete steps to accelerate Indonesia's digital economic transformation through innovation and within the global digital ecosystem. Thank you. During the Hari Raya Idul Fitri, Grab also distributed Hari Raya bonuses. We want this to continue for the future. Now this is only two times. We need for next time as well. If this year the value is double, I think with AI the value should be multiple than double. Thank you very much. [Non-English content] .
Thank you, Minister. Please kindly stay on stage. [Non-English content] . We kindly ask His Excellency to return to the stage. [Non-English content] . I would like also to invite Minister Maman Abdurrahman, Mr. Anthony Tan, and Ms. Neneng Goenadi to join us on stage for a very special milestone as we will mark a momentous moment for GrabX 2026. We would like to ask for the journalists and photographer to stand by to capture this momentous moment.
All right. Ladies and gentlemen, Bapak Ibu, in a moment we will press the button together, but I will need the help for all the guests to count one to three together with me on my lead. Okay? Are we ready? Oh yeah, we are so excited now. Are we ready now on the stage? Yes. All right. On my lead, in one, two, three.

Once again, thank you very much for doing our "wefie" together here with our Grab everyday heroes. Once again, thank you very much for gracing us with your presence, Minister, coordinating minister. [Non-English content] . Thank you very much for gracing us with your presence in this GrabX 2026. To all our guests that we are not done yet, because we still have our very exciting moment for this very morning. Yes. Let's give a big round applause for all of us. Thank you very much. Yep. Let's do it now. Oh yes, we still got a lot of things to do here because we are very excited. [Non-English content] Thank you very much. All right, we're very excited.
Congratulations once again, Anthony. What a day. What a spirit. Wow. We're so excited now. Okay, shall we continue now? Yeah? Are you ready? All right. Perfect. I like it now. We're shaking up this a bit. Okay. So ladies and gentlemen, up next is someone whose team is behind the breakthroughs that shape how millions of us interact with Grab every day. He's going to show us the magic. Oh, I like that word. I like word magic, of the products that his team builds. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our Chief Product Officer, Philipp Kandal.
Thank you, Marvin. Hello, everyone. I'm Philipp, and I'm super happy to have all of you with us today.
Many of us know Grab as providing everyday services on demand. You just tap a button and you get a ride. Another tap and dinner is then straight to your doorstep. In 14 years, we've fulfilled 20 billion rides and orders. That's, yeah. That's 20 billion times we've shown up when you needed us. Now we want to make things even easier for everyone. We want to do more. This is not about adding more icons to your home screen. We are upgrading our super app experience to an intelligent partner that thinks with you. This is about a fundamental shift.
Welcome to GrabX 2026. Today, we'll be entering a new era. Grab as your everyday guide, a vision that is powered by the Grab Intelligence Layer that Anthony talked about earlier. You see, 20 billion rides has given us plenty of data. We know every little shortcut in Jakarta. We can tell how traffic might be depending on whether it's a drizzle or a downpour. We can also tell how people's taste buds change from morning to night. Data alone is just noise. We need to make sense of it. We take all this data and the local insights, and we use Grab Intelligence Layer to build products that understand your preferences, your local environments.
Today, we're going to show you how Grab becomes your everyday guide, helping you through city life to make it more easy, making travel truly effortless, and giving small businesses powerful AI tools to do more. Let's start with local life. We'll introduce you to new products that make your daily routines and exploring your local neighborhoods easier.
A few years ago, we launched Group Order for food, and it made it easier for people to share orders and save money. Today, we're bringing that same idea to rides. Picture this. It's 6:30 P.M. in Manila, and it's raining, and traffic is bad, and everyone just wants to get home. Raymond and his colleagues realize they're all going the same way. Why not share a ride? Sounds fairly simple, but who gets dropped off first? Who books the ride, and who pays first and then has to chase everyone else later? That's a lot of headache for what should be a simple trip home. Which brings me to our product of the day, Group Rides. This will completely change how you ride together with friends.
Here's how it works. Raymond seeks to share a ride, and each of them set their own drop-off point straight from their own phones. Now, I'm German, which means I'm never late. My friends, they're always late. It's very troublesome for me to text them all the time and ask them where they are. Well, that's why we have the virtual waiting room where everyone can see they're ready, even if somebody's taking a last-minute toilet break.
At the end of the ride is where the Grab Intelligence Layer comes in. How often do you split the bill equally, even when that's not really fair? Does one person pay first and chase everyone else after? We handle all of that for you. The fare is automatically split, each person traveled, and everyone pays straight from their own account right away.
Now, this is my personal favorite part. We know you're always looking for affordable ways to get around. I get this feedback every single day. Trust me, I hear you. By using Group Rides, you can instantly save up to 40% compared to riding alone. Speaking about saving money, this next one might also save a few relationships at a time. This is me and my wife, Lina, on a regular Tuesday night. We cannot agree on what to eat. When I crave sushi, she wants Thai. When I want Thai, then she wants pasta.
Usually, this means somebody has to compromise, which is usually me, or we have to make two separate orders and pay double the delivery fees. That's exactly what GrabMore solves. Now, you can order from two restaurants in one single order. All right. One order, one delivery fee, arriving together. No compromises, no double fees. First, you start with one restaurant, and then GrabMore will show you other restaurants nearby, so you can add a second meal to your order. In the back end, one driver partner picks up your order from both restaurants, so both meals arrive together.
Now, a big part of local life is knowing our cities well. Early on in our journey, we realized that most maps just did not work for Southeast Asia. There are too many little alleyways, unnamed streets, and shortcuts that our driver partners rely on every day that weren't on any map, so we had to create our own. With the help of our driver and delivery partners, we captured millions of street images with our KartaCams, and we built GrabMaps. Today, we're super excited to bring this map to everyone else, too.
Please join me in welcoming Soh Leng, who will tell you more about GrabMaps for Consumers.
Thank you, P.K. Hello, everyone. I'm Soh Leng, and I'm here to share more about the map we've built for consumers. Living in Southeast Asia, and I'm sure you know this, a change in weather can change all of our plans. Sometimes when there's a sudden storm, there are flooded roads, and we can't take the route that we are used to, and this can happen without warning. This is exactly the kind of pain point that we want to fix. Let's say I'm meeting a friend at 6:00 P.M., but it suddenly starts to rain. I don't want to be late, so this is where Grab Maps comes in. Because I sync my calendar, Grab Maps tells me exactly what time to leave so I can be on time.
I can trust that timing because it factors in real-time weather, traffic, and what our driver partners are seeing on the ground. If there's flooding ahead, it also tells me to take a different road, so I won't be stuck. Just to make your daily commute a little more fun, we have added custom voices so you can choose who guides you. Yep, I can now have my boss, P.K., give me directions to work and at work. Here's how he sounds like.
Turn left in 500 m, and you will arrive at the Grab office.
Oh, can you guys hear him? Oh, no worries. There'll be a demo later. You can hear his voice. We are also going to launch this soon, so if you want to have P.K. or A.T. voice, let us know. I'm pretty sure we can get them in as well. We use AI voice cloning to do this so you can customize and add anyone's voice to guide you. GrabMaps doesn't just plan your route. It also shows you what you need along the way. You can find EV charging stations, available parking spots, and even public transport information all there in our GrabMaps.
This last one is something I find really useful. Our map also works indoors. Honestly, this saves me so much time. In Singapore, and I'm sure in Jakarta too, malls are like a maze. Ten different entrances, multiple wings, and floors that don't quite make sense. With indoor maps, you'll know exactly where to go. Back to you, P.K.
Thank you so much, Soh Leng. I'm secretly happy that you couldn't hear my voice navigating you. That should be really restricted for a few special people. Anyway, now, here's something else we've been working on. Say hello to our Grab AI Assistant. It's a chatbot across the Grab app that already knows what you need and when you need it. It's like a personal assistant that takes care of your everyday needs. Let's hear from Xiaole as she walks us through how it works.
Hi, everyone. I'm Xiaole. Today, we are bringing the power of AI into the Grab experience in a way which actually helps you in your everyday life. Let's meet Grab AI Assistant. We have combined the world-class model, like our Anthropic's Claude, with our deep understanding of your needs. The goal is simple, to make things feel much more intuitive, more helpful, and a lot less effort.
Let me show you what that looks like with three examples. First, it's Monday. You are in back-to-back meetings, and suddenly, it's lunchtime and you are starving. But you haven't even thought about what to eat yet. Luckily, Grab AI Assistant is one step ahead of you because it knows what you want and the way you usually order. It sends you a nudge, just one tap, and your lunch is started.
Next, your team just wrapped a big project, and they want to celebrate over dinner. Finding a place for eight people, which is open air, halal, close to the office, and at same time available this Friday, that is a chore. Just chat with Grab AI Assistant about what you want. It pulls together the best options for you immediately.
Finally, it's Sunday evening. You need groceries for the week. Maybe you already have a list in your head, or maybe it has been scribbled somewhere. Normally, you'll need to search items one by one across different stores. Now, just snap a photo of your handwritten list or simply say what you want out loud. The Grab AI Assistant will find everything for you across stores and form the basket. You just pick and check out.
This is just the beginning. We're adding even more AI tools to help you get things done. You spend less time figuring things out and more time on what actually matters. Thank you.
Cool stuff, Xiaole. I think we all wish we had a personal assistant to help us stay ahead of everyday life. The truth is, there are some things we just cannot plan for. Maybe it's a sudden injury from a weekend game, or the car breaks down exactly when the warranty ends, or the school suddenly announces that every student needs a new laptop in the next semester. Life happens, and suddenly you're facing an unexpected expense, which you didn't see coming. When you need extra cash fast, getting a bank loan is not always an option for everyone. That's why we made credit more accessible with the launch of Cash Loan. We launched similar lending products for our driver and merchant partners, and we saw how it changed millions of their lives. Now we're bringing that same support to our consumers.
With Cash Loan, you do not need to send a mountain of documents. We just look at how you've been using Grab to know that you're a trusted user. That means instead of waiting for weeks, you'll get a decision in seconds because you already have an available credit line just when you need it. You choose the amount you need, and you select the repayment plan that fits your budget. With Cash Loan, you've got something to fall back on when those sudden bills pop up. In local life, we covered how Group Rides and GrabMore can help you save and beat rising city costs. We've also walked you through GrabMaps for Consumers and the Grab AI Assistant, features that help you lighten your daily load. Finally, there's Cash Loan as a safety net for life's unplanned moments.
Now, let's take a step back and look at the entire region. Two hundred million people travel across Southeast Asia every year. While traveling is exciting, it's not always smooth. Being your everyday guide does not stop at borders. Last year, we brought you features like the AI-powered menu translations or airport pickups synced to your flight, as well as Travel Pass. This year, we're doing even more to make travel even more effortless. Let's hear from Lori, who's here to share our first update we're bringing to the travel experience.
Thanks, P.K. Good morning, everyone. When it comes to travel, we all know things rarely go to plan. There are so many things that can go wrong. Forgetting your passport at home, ending up at the wrong gate, or almost missing that flight. So what if Grab could take care of those moments for you? Well, we looked at the entire travel journey with a magnifying glass and mapped out every single friction point end to end, and then designed a solution around it.
That's why I'm super excited to introduce to you today Grab's personalized travel experience. We've turned Grab into an all-in-one trusted travel partner that manages all those travel details that no one really likes to think about. No more multi-tabbing between airline emails and search engines. We've consolidated all the information and reminders you need in one place. When you're leaving home, we remind you to take your passport and tell you which terminal to head to. At the airport, you'll know exactly where to check in your luggage and gate number. We'll even inform you if there are any last-minute changes. When you land, well, that's a whole another set of challenges.
I recently traveled with my two-year-old, and let me tell you, that is no small feat. We landed in Koh Samui, queued for ages, and finally got to the front of the immigration counter. I could just taste that holiday, only to be told to go back and fill out an arrival card. Safe to say, that did not go down well with my daughter, and just like that, holiday mode was over before it even began.
When you get to your destination, Grab's got you covered. Arrival card reminder? Check. Need data? Get a local eSIM on the Grab app. Worried about finding your driver? Our indoor navigation guide will get you to your pickup point, no worries. Planning to use Grab on your trip? Get a bundle of discounts with Travel Pass. These are the small touches that help smooth things over, ensuring that your arrival is not a hurdle, but a highlight. Back to you, P.K.
Thanks for that, Lori. Let's say you've landed in a new city, and you're ready to explore. The first thing we always ask is, "What should we eat?" Finding the right place to eat in a city you don't know isn't easy. There's food talks, there's endless food reels, and all these top 10 lists. How do you know what's actually good? Well, if anyone knows where the best food spots are in Southeast Asia, it's definitely Grab. We've been serving billions of meals for nearly a decade, and from those, we've collected millions of reviews from people who actually tried the food.
Today, we're putting all of this data to work to make it easier for you to find new places to eat. This is Discover by Grab. We're bringing content, community, and dining together all in one place. You can open Discover, and you'll see a feed of food posts shared by everyday people like you and me. Behind the scenes, AI learns your tastes and brings those to the top of the list. It works just like the social apps you love. You can save, you can like, share, and you can even create your own posts.
The best part is, because it's inside the Grab app, everything is actionable. If you see something you like, you can reserve a table, or you can get it delivered, or you can book a ride to get there. From finding a place to enjoying it, it's all in one app, whether you're in another country or in your own neighborhood. With Discover, we're growing a community of people who live for great food.
Through our Eatfluencer program, more people are posting quality reviews, which means better recommendations for everyone. I actually also personally really enjoy posting and becoming an Eatfluencer myself. Here you can see some of my reviews of a few restaurants I ate at recently. They were so authentic and super delicious. I hope you can tell that I really love great food and you can follow me on the Grab app later.
The beauty of these real, authentic recommendations is that sometimes they lead you to these hidden gems, places that only locals typically would know. At places like those, payment options tend to be limited. The more local the place, the less likely they'll take credit cards. GrabPay, on the other hand, is everywhere in Southeast Asia. Downloading a new payment app for a three-day trip? Now, that's too much of a headache.
Today, we're bridging that gap. Wherever you travel in Southeast Asia, you can use GrabPay to pay with any local QR code. Just link the credit card to your Grab app once, and you're ready to scan like a local. Next up is another travel stress that too many of us know, unfortunately, too well. Finding a place to stay, especially at the last minute. Maybe it's a sudden work trip, or it's a spontaneous getaway, or maybe the hotel you booked suddenly cancels.
We all know that booking these things at the last minute can be quite pricey, but we don't think you should have to pay more just because your plans changed. That's why we're launching GrabStays, hotel bookings through the Grab app. Now, we know you've got already lots of options when it comes to booking hotels. Here's where we are really different. We help you to find competitive last-minute rates.
Through our partnership with Nuitée, we use AI to find you the best possible deal exactly when you need it. Since it's all in the Grab app, it's super easy. You just book and pay with what you already use. GrabStays is truly fully integrated within our ecosystem. GrabStays is one of the many partners we are working with to bring more services into the Grab app. We call those Partner Apps. They're built right into the Grab app, which means they offer a fully native experience, and you don't have to switch apps or create any new accounts.
Finally, everything is in one place. In effortless travel, we looked at how we can remove all these little headaches that come with traveling. From navigating the airport and discovering local food, to paying with ease or booking last-minute stays, as well as getting around. Now, let's talk about what we are doing for our merchant partners. Earlier, Anthony mentioned how AI can feel out of reach, especially for small businesses, and we want to change that.
We want to make sure our merchant partners are never left behind. Let me expand on that. We've spent years building tools to help our merchant partners. Marketing, loans, booking systems, and many, many more. They have helped. Most of it sits on a screen, and the real business happens in the store, in the kitchen, and face-to-face. This is the gap we are closing today. The next step is bringing our technology into the physical world. Today, we're introducing three new AI-powered solutions designed to help how our merchant partners actually work.
Before that, Hanif from our Indonesia Trust and Safety team would like to share a really special story.
Hi, everyone. I'm Hanif, a trust and safety data analyst from Indonesia. I'm not a coder, but I'm here to share a cool vibe coding project I had the chance to work on. It is an AI project that helps keep school children safe. As part of the Grab-OVO MBG program, which delivers thousands of free nutritious meals to students across the country, ensuring food safety is our top priority. Usually, this means having a person watching CCTV screens all day to monitor for food hygiene. We know that sometimes people get tired and distracted, right? We want to solve this problem by having a supervisor who never sleeps and never gets tired. Despite my background as an analyst, my curiosity about IoT and computer vision led me to build an AI-powered CCTV to solve that problem.
By vibe coding and training our model on 12,000 images, the system now can automatically detect whether people are wearing their mask, hair net, apron in the kitchen, and even spots if pests are running around. I still remember when I'm struggling with the training process and repeatedly testing the prototype, standing in front of camera, wearing a hair net, apron, mask, pretending I'm a cook, and then praying that the model would actually recognize me with the better accuracy. It did. I'm so excited to see our AI CCTV solutions roll out to more kitchens, and I hope that every single meal can be prepared safely for every child. Thank you.
Thank you, Hanif. I found that a really inspiring story. Actually, for those of you in the room, you can meet Hanif later in the demo zone. You can check it out there. That is the origin of our next innovation. We saw this opportunity to help even more businesses because almost every single store has CCTV, but typically, it's just hours of footage. How can we make these CCTVs more useful for our merchants?
Building on what our Indonesia team did, we created the Virtual Store Manager. We turned regular CCTVs into an extra set of eyes that tracks queues, monitors foot traffic, and even flags hygiene issues. It also helps our merchants' day-to-day operations. Like if your store isn't open on time, you get an alert right away. For merchants running multiple outlets, this makes a big difference.
You don't have to be everywhere all at once. The Virtual Store Manager helps you keep an eye on every store, all at the same time. We touched on the other problem earlier. A lot of merchants in our region only accept cash or QR code payments. When a customer comes by and wants to pay by credit card, they have to say no. Why? Because accepting card payments comes with costs. There's terminals, fees, and long-term contracts. For small businesses or pop-ups, that doesn't always make business sense. We knew we had to fix this.
Today, we finally have. Introducing Tap to Pay. Our merchants can now accept card payments straight from the GrabMerchant app. We're turning the merchant's smartphone into a card machine. They just need to update their GrabMerchant app, and then they can start accepting card payments right away. They don't need extra equipment, no bank queues, and no paperwork. It's an enterprise-grade checkout counter in their hands, so they won't have to ever turn away customers anymore. Because we now understand their transactions, we can actually help them with bigger credit lines and extend them to our merchant partners.
Now, let me take you from the front of the store to behind the scenes and show you what happens when an order comes in. Picture a busy restaurant at lunchtime. The cashier is managing the tables while keeping an eye on orders on their Grab app. Each time an order comes in, they have to stop serving, they have to scribble it down, run it to the kitchen, and then run back to table service.
This wastes many precious minutes with each order, and it leaves our drivers waiting and the food getting cold on the counter. This is not good for our consumers, it's not good for our drivers, and it's certainly not good for our merchants. Our final product for today is a small but powerful device that cuts out all this back and forth between the front of the restaurant and the kitchen. The device is called the Cloud Printer. Thank you. Trust me, this is a lot more complicated to build than it looks like. It's a lot of dollars per kilogram of device. Anyway. What this device does, it sends every order straight to the chef. When an order comes in, what the Cloud Printer does, it alerts the kitchen right away.
It flashes this bright green light, and it announces the order in the local language, and it also starts printing out a receipt so they can start cooking immediately. Then, once the food is ready, the chef scans the QR code on this scanner here on the receipt, and that automatically updates the order status to ready in our app and in our backend. That way, the driver shows up right on time, just as the food is hot and ready, and there's no time wasted. There's one more thing the Cloud Printer can do. If a restaurant is closed and they forget to turn off their Grab app, the Cloud Printer has a microphone and detects when there's no sound coming from the kitchen, and it pauses the app from accepting new orders. This way, the store doesn't end up with unfulfilled orders or unhappy customers.
That's the Grab Intelligence Layer at work. With the Virtual Store Manager, Tap to Pay, and the Cloud Printer, we're taking the technology off the screen and putting it where the real work happens, on the ground. We are making our solutions more helpful, more practical, and part of their everyday operations.
