1X is a robotics and artificial intelligence company that develops humanoid robots for homes and businesses. Its flagship product is NEO, a bipedal home robot with a soft knit exterior that can handle everyday chores like laundry, dishes and tidying. The company makes money by selling NEO for $20,000 or renting it out through a $499 per month subscription. It opened preorders in October 2025 and booked out its entire first year of production capacity in five days. NEO is built at the company's factory in Hayward, California, with first customer deliveries planned for 2026. 1X was founded in Norway in 2014 as Halodi Robotics and is now headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
