About Arena
Arena is an AI evaluation company that ranks large language models and AI agents based on how real people use them. Its free public platform at arena.ai lets users enter a prompt, compare answers from two anonymous models side by side and vote for the better one. Those votes feed public leaderboards for text, coding, vision, search, image and video models. The company has also added Agent Arena, which ranks AI agents on real multi-step tasks, and an Alignment Index that tracks unsafe agent behavior such as deception or unauthorized actions. Arena makes money by selling AI Evaluations, a paid service that gives AI labs and enterprises detailed performance analytics drawn from its community data and is billed on consumption. Formerly known as LMArena, the company began in 2023 as the Chatbot Arena research project at UC Berkeley and counts Databricks co-founder Ion Stoica among its co-founders.
