About Blacksmith
Blacksmith is a cloud platform that speeds up continuous integration for software teams using GitHub Actions. It offers a drop-in replacement for GitHub-hosted runners that executes builds and tests on bare metal servers with high-performance gaming CPUs, letting teams switch by changing a single line in their workflow file. The company says this roughly doubles CI speed while cutting compute costs by up to 75 percent. It also sells observability tools such as test analytics and a logging platform for GitHub Actions. Blacksmith makes money by charging usage-based fees for the compute minutes that customer workflows consume, with paid plans for larger teams. It launched out of Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch and serves over 1,000 engineering teams including Vercel, Supabase, Mercury, Ashby and Clerk.
