About Blue Origin
Blue Origin is a space company that develops reusable rockets, rocket engines and spacecraft with the goal of radically reducing the cost of access to space. Its main vehicles are the New Shepard suborbital rocket, which flies paying passengers and research payloads to the edge of space, and the New Glenn heavy-lift orbital rocket, which first launched in January 2025. The company makes money by selling launch services to commercial satellite operators and government agencies, selling its BE-4 engines to United Launch Alliance and flying space tourists on New Shepard. It also holds a $3.4 billion NASA contract to build the Blue Moon crewed lunar lander for the Artemis program. Blue Origin was founded in 2000 by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who funded the company for 25 years through sales of his Amazon stock before it raised outside capital for the first time in 2026.
