About Material Security
Material Security is a cybersecurity company that protects the email, files and accounts inside Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. The platform connects to those suites through APIs instead of sitting in front of the mail flow, so it can detect and remediate phishing and business email compromise, find sensitive content already sitting in inboxes and shared drives, contain account takeovers and revoke risky third-party app and AI agent connections. Material makes money by selling the platform as an annual per-user subscription, priced by tier with account takeover protection sold as an add-on, and it is also available through the Google Cloud Marketplace. Three former Dropbox engineers started the company in 2017 in response to the 2016 election email hacks, and its customers include OpenAI, Figma, Mars and DoorDash.
