About PsiQuantum
PsiQuantum is a quantum computing company building large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers based on silicon photonics. Rather than trapping ions or cooling superconducting circuits, it encodes quantum information in single particles of light and manufactures its photonic chips using standard semiconductor processes at GlobalFoundries. The company argues that this approach offers the fastest path to machines with a million qubits. The company is building utility-scale quantum computing facilities in Brisbane, Australia and Chicago, Illinois, and makes money primarily through government-funded partnerships and contracts for these sites along with enterprise collaborations. PsiQuantum was founded in 2016 by Jeremy O'Brien, Terry Rudolph, Pete Shadbolt and Mark Thompson, and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
