About Redis
Redis is a data platform built around the open source Redis in-memory database, which developers use as a cache, session store and low-latency data layer in front of slower systems of record. It sells Redis Cloud, a fully managed service available on AWS, Google Cloud and Azure, alongside Redis Software for enterprises that run the database in their own environments. Redis 8 pulled the features once sold separately as Redis Stack into the core product, adding a query engine, JSON documents, time series, probabilistic data structures and vector sets for similarity search. The company has since pushed into AI infrastructure with Redis Iris, a managed context engine that gives AI agents persistent memory, semantic caching and governed access to live enterprise data. Redis makes money by selling subscriptions to Redis Cloud and Redis Software, and it also earns a revenue share from Microsoft's Azure Cache for Redis, the first-party Azure service built on its code.
