About TypeSafe AI
TypeSafe AI is a frontier artificial intelligence lab that builds "System One" models, a class of AI designed to make fast, structured decisions that software can consume directly rather than generate free-form text. Its first model, Jev, reads program state and a predefined schema of questions and returns typed answers such as categories, scores and yes-or-no probabilities, each with a calibrated confidence score, in a single parallel pass. Because every possible output is declared in advance, the model cannot invent values or emit malformed responses, which the company positions as a faster and cheaper alternative to using large language models for high-volume classification, routing, extraction and guardrail tasks. TypeSafe makes money by selling access to its models through a usage-based API, charging developers for input tokens while the typed outputs are free. The company was founded in 2024 by Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher who contributed to ChatGPT and the development of reinforcement learning from human feedback, along with Erik Gafni and Sasha Sheng.
