About Volta

Volta is an AI infrastructure company that develops, finances, builds and operates large data centers it calls AI factories. It is built for frontier AI labs and smaller AI-native startups that are often priced out of the long-term compute deals hyperscalers can secure. Volta bundles institutional infrastructure capital, powered land, data centers, Nvidia GPUs and its own cloud software into a single vertically integrated platform, with the goal of pricing compute like a utility. It makes money by selling long-term contracted access to that dedicated compute capacity. Its launch was anchored by a $10 billion, six-year partnership to build a 133 MW AI factory in Norway alongside Bitdeer, which Bloomberg reported is a deal with Anthropic. The company was founded in 2026 by Ricard Boada and Sofia Gumuzio, who previously built Brookfield's AI infrastructure platform, and it acquired the team behind GPU cloud provider Genesis Cloud to run its software stack.
