The Nuveen Lifecycle 2055 Premier Fund is a target-date mutual fund designed to help investors prepare for retirement around the year 2055. This fund employs a diversified investment strategy, allocating assets across equities, fixed income, and direct real estate to maximize risk-adjusted returns as investors approach their retirement date. The asset allocation follows a "glide path," starting with a high proportion of equities—approximately 90%—to seek growth in the early years, then gradually shifting towards a greater allocation in bonds and other conservative assets over time. At retirement, the equity allocation typically decreases to about 50%, and continues to become more conservative, ultimately landing at 20% equity thirty years after the target date. The fund pursues its objectives through a fund-of-funds structure, investing in various underlying funds to capture broad market exposure while benefiting from professional management.
