About Antares Nuclear

Antares Nuclear is a nuclear fission company that designs and manufactures factory-produced, transportable microreactors for defense and space missions. Its R1 reactor is a sodium heat-pipe design that uses TRISO fuel in a graphite core and is built to deliver between 100 kilowatts and 1 megawatt of electricity for six or more years without refueling. Antares makes money by selling compact microreactors under defense contracts. That includes U.S. Army and Air Force programs to put on-site power on military bases. In June 2026 its Mark-0 test reactor reached criticality at Idaho National Laboratory, the first privately developed non-light-water reactor to do so in the United States in more than 40 years. The company plans to produce electricity with a Mark-1 unit in 2027 and begin deployments to U.S. military installations in 2028.
