About Kraken
Kraken is a cryptocurrency exchange that lets individuals and institutions buy, sell and trade Bitcoin, Ethereum and hundreds of other digital assets. Beyond spot trading, it offers margin and futures trading, staking, custody and an institutional platform. It also offers a growing suite of traditional finance products such as commission-free stock and ETF trading. The exchange is operated by parent company Payward, which has expanded through acquisitions including the futures platform NinjaTrader and the derivatives exchange Bitnomial. Kraken makes money mainly from trading fees on its platform, along with asset-based revenue from custody, staking, payments and financing. It also runs xStocks, a framework for tokenized equities available to customers outside the United States. Kraken was founded in 2011 by Jesse Powell, Thanh Luu and Michael Gronager and is headquartered in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
