About Ripple
Ripple is a financial technology company that builds blockchain-based payment and settlement infrastructure for banks, payment providers and other financial institutions. Its software lets customers move money across borders, hold digital assets in custody and use stablecoins. Much of its business is connected to the XRP cryptocurrency and the XRP Ledger. Ripple's main products include Ripple Payments for cross-border transfers, custody software for institutions and a dollar-backed stablecoin called RLUSD. Ripple makes money by charging financial institutions for access to its payment network and software, earning fees from custody and stablecoin services and managing a large corporate treasury of XRP that it sells over time. The company was founded in 2012 by Chris Larsen and Jed McCaleb, originally under the name OpenCoin, and is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
