About Mercury

Mercury is a financial technology company that provides banking services to startups and small businesses. It offers checking and savings accounts, corporate credit cards, wire transfers, treasury management and venture debt through a software platform. Mercury is not a bank itself and holds customer deposits at FDIC-insured partner banks. In April 2026 it received conditional approval from the OCC to establish its own national bank, Mercury Bank, N.A. The company makes money from interchange fees on card payments, interest earned on customer deposits and subscription fees for its premium software plans. Mercury was founded in 2017 by Immad Akhund, Max Tagher and Jason Zhang and is headquartered in San Francisco.
