About Nuro
Nuro is an autonomous driving technology company that builds a self-driving system called the Nuro Driver. The company started out designing small driverless vehicles for local goods delivery and was the first to receive an autonomous vehicle exemption from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It has since shifted its focus to licensing the Nuro Driver, a Level 4 autonomy platform, to automakers and mobility providers for use in robotaxis, commercial fleets and personally owned cars. Nuro makes money by licensing this technology and through commercial partnerships, such as a deal with Uber and Lucid to deploy robotaxis. It was founded in 2016 by Jiajun Zhu and Dave Ferguson, two former engineers from Google's self-driving car project. The company is headquartered in Mountain View, California.
