About Persona AI
Persona AI is a robotics company that builds industrial humanoid robots for heavy-industry work such as welding, grinding, inspection, fabrication and material handling, starting with welding in shipyards. Its robots run on a single modular platform that takes task-specific configurations the company calls "Personas" and is designed to hold and operate standard industrial tools. Persona AI makes money by leasing its humanoids rather than selling them, through a robotics-as-a-service program with one to five year terms that bundles the robot, its autonomy software, tooling modules, software updates and training for the staff who run the fleet. It was co-founded in 2024 by Nicolaus Radford, who led development of NASA's Valkyrie humanoid and later founded Nauticus Robotics, and Jerry Pratt, the former chief technology officer of Figure AI.
