About WGLSX
Wasatch Long/Short Alpha Fund Institutional Class Shares is a U.S.-based mutual fund that primarily targets long-term capital growth by investing in small- and mid-cap American companies with market capitalizations exceeding $2 billion at the time of purchase. Employing a directional, long-biased long/short equity strategy, the fund combines fundamental, bottom-up analysis with quantitative tools to identify promising equity positions for both buying (long) and short selling. Typically, the fund maintains 30 to 60 long positions and up to 60 short positions, resulting in a gross market exposure ranging between 90% and 200% of net assets. The fund’s design aims to capture stock-specific alpha while seeking lower portfolio volatility and about half the market exposure (a beta of approximately 0.5) relative to its benchmark, the Russell 2500 Index. Led by an experienced portfolio manager, the fund is structured to deliver higher risk-adjusted returns with reduced sensitivity to broad market movements, making it a significant instrument for investors seeking diversified equity exposure with an actively managed risk profile.
