About Flock Safety

Flock Safety is a public safety technology company whose camera networks and software are used by police departments, businesses and neighborhoods to identify vehicles and solve crimes. Its automated license plate readers photograph passing cars and log the plate along with the make, model, color and distinguishing marks such as bumper stickers or damage. The resulting database is searchable by law enforcement through FlockOS, and the product line now also covers gunshot detection, video cameras, mobile security trailers, an investigative data platform called Nova and American-made Drone as First Responder aircraft built at the company's own factory near Atlanta. Flock makes money by selling all-inclusive annual subscriptions rather than hardware: one recurring fee covers the devices, installation, LTE connectivity, cloud storage, maintenance and the software, with license plate cameras priced at roughly $3,000 to $3,500 each. It works with about 5,000 law enforcement agencies across 49 states and around 1,000 businesses, and says its network of more than 80,000 cameras helps solve roughly a million crimes a year.
